Bud Force is a director/cinematographer and co-founder of the production companies Ultralite Films™ and 1922 Films
Born in Texas, Bud spent his formative years growing up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and rural Texas, which sparked a lifelong appreciation of the outdoors and agriculture. Bud’s passion became the rodeo, and he rode bulls throughout high school and college until a major accident landed him in critical condition and effectively ended his career.
Returning to school, Bud graduated with a BA in journalism from Texas A&M University and then joined TX-TF1, a federal search and rescue team, where he was deployed to several major natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina. Those experiences led to his writing “Urban Search & Rescue,” (TAMU Press) a book about the team’s deployments that includes photography and narrative from some of America’s largest disasters on record.
In 2006, Bud left full-time employment to work as a freelance photojournalist. Working around the globe the next several years, he developed his niche in outdoor adventure/travel assignments published in various media ranging from Backpacker Magazine to National Geographic.
As a combination of new media and technology allowed for more creative latitude within filmmaking, Bud founded Ultralite Films™ in 2012 and today studies motion storytelling as his primary discipline.
Bud recently premiered the feature film “Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait” and is currently directing multiple commercial campaigns. In tandem, Bud is working as a horse wrangler on Paramount’s Yellowstone.
When not filmmaking, Bud enjoys spending his time with his wife and daughter, traveling, and day working on cattle ranches.
